The fundamental value of the Basic Wind Velocity, vb,0, is a measure of the wind speed used to calculate the wind loads, which affect the design of structures.
In Denmark, the Basic Wind Velocity depends on the distance to the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord, which are areas with stronger winds.
This map divides the 25 km wide border zone into sectors with decreasing linearly from 27 m/s at the shoreline to 24 m/s at the inland edge, considering the local terrain features, such as the inlets of Western Jutland, which affect the wind patterns.
You can find the provisions of the fundamental value of the basic wind velocity in DS/EN 1991-1-4 NA:2024 §4.2 (1)P NOTE 2. [ PDF (Danish) ].
Annex D, DK NA is a part of the Danish National Annex to Eurocode 8, which is a European standard for the design of structures for earthquake resistance.
Annex D, DK NA provides simplified rules for calculating the horizontal seismic action as an alternative to the application of EN 1998-1.
The annex is applicable for construction works in Denmark, where the seismic hazard is low. Annex D, DK NA also includes a seismic zone map (this map) with reference ground accelerations for different regions of Denmark.
You can find the provisions of the Danish alternative to the application of EN 1998-1 in DS/EN 1998-1 NA:2020 Annex D. [ PDF (Danish) / PDF (English) ].
